Music
I had to take a public buss the other day to visit someone, and the driver had music on as most of them do may Allah guide them. subhanallah it was a long ride and theres not much you can do to avoid the music. my ears caught a few words of the songs and i was like subhanallah how stupid it sounds!
why do people commit so many sins by listening to music and in the end its just lame?? im not saying that its ok if the song has meanings but seriously most of the songs these days have absolutly no meaning and its just filthy.
subhanallah i wonder what the muslims who listen to these songs benefit from them. its just sins that as muslims cant say ‘oh i feel that, i understand that’!
as muslims we have nothing in common with these kuffar that sing about nothing but sins. its either about drugs, gangs, love, haram relationships etc.. how can a muslim listen to something like that when it doesnt even describe their lifestyle? i know sadly many muslims have become like kuffar, but im in a muslim country..what can they have in common with those singers?
while i was on the bus this girl was sitting with her boyfriend and they were flirting openly in front of everyone and playing around.. she hears a song about love and builds this dream in her head with her boyfriend whos just using her and playing with her cuz hes bored..!!
Allaah says in Soorat Luqmaan (interpretation of the meaning):
“And of mankind is he who purchases idle talks (i.e. music, singing) to mislead (men) from the path of Allaah…” [Luqmaan 31:6]
And in another verse Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“[Allaah said to Iblees:] And befool them gradually those whom you can among them with your voice (i.e. songs, music, and any other call for Allaah’s disobedience)…” [al-Israa’ 17:64]
Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
“Do you then wonder at this recitation (the Qur’aan)?
And you laugh at it and weep not,
Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing)”
[al-Najm 53:59-61]
From the hadith The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“Among my ummah there will certainly be people who permit zinaa, silk, alcohol and musical instruments…” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari ta’leeqan, no. 5590; narrated as mawsool by al-Tabaraani and al-Bayhaqi. See al-Silsilah al-Saheehah by al-Albaani, 91).
the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give him peace) said: “Song makes hypocrisy grow in the heart as water does herbage.” (Sunan al-Bayhaqi)
the punishment for music is:
the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him & give peace) said: “On the day of Resurrection, Allah will pour molten lead into the ears of whoever sits listening to a songstress.” (Recorded by Ibn Asakir & Ibn al-Misri)

Jazaaks for the post. I copied and pasted the dalil you used. Saved me heaps of time looking it up myself. I will pass it on to my school students who asked why music is haram. IshaAllah it will be sadaqa jariya for you!

How can anyone who has faith keep listening to music?

The narration is recorded by Ibn `Asakir in Tarikh Dimashq (51:262-263) and he narrated two chains both via Abu Nu`aym `Ubaid bin Hisham al-Halaby, who is considered one of those narrators who became confused and narrated errors later in his life. Ibn Abi Hatim has noted a number of his mistakes in al-`Ilal, for which reason Shaykh al-Albani, may Allah have mercy upon him graded this hadith batil (false, baseless) in Silsilat al-Ahadith ad-Da`eefah (4549), and he cited a statement saying attributed t Ahmad it is batil, and he also addressed claims of others that it is authentic. In Da`if al-Jami` as-Saghir (4510) he graded it fabricated.
As for the prohibition of listening to music and singing it is established via other texts…
